The access road to and from Citrusdal washed away. Traffic is stopped on both sides of the road. According to the Cederberg Municipality, Citrusdal is in lockdown:
‘The Cederberg Local Municipality is pleading with all residents to avoid being on the road. In the areas cut off due to flooding, people should remain indoors and if a situation is life-threatening, call the emergency number on 022 433 9400 immediately.’
About 88 people have been evacuated from the Riverview Informal Settlement and temporarily housed in the Oranjeville Sports Hall;Grade 4 to Grade 7 learner exams are postponed to Monday, 19 June, for children living outside of Citrusdal;About 57 people are lived in temporary housing on the sports grounds in Wupperthal were evacuated and moved to the Endrag Community Hall.
