Las autoridades libias impidieron el viernes la entrada de civiles a la ciudad oriental de Derna, devastada por las inundaciones, para que los rescatistas puedan buscan entre el lodo y los escombros de los edificios a las 10.100 personas que siguen desaparecidas luego de que la cifra oficial de víctimas aumentó a 11.300.
Derna estaba siendo evacuada y solo se permitía el acceso de los equipos de búsqueda y rescate, anunció el jueves en la noche Salam al-Fergany, director general del Servicio de Ambulancias y Emergencias en el este de Libia.El desastre ha generado una inusual unidad con las agencias gubernamentales del dividido país apresurándose para ayudar a las zonas afectadas. Los primeros convoyes con ayuda llegaron a Derna el martes en la noche.
El ministro de Salud del este, Othman Abduljaleel, indicó que por el momento los entierros se están llevando a cabo en fosas comunes a la afueras de Derna y en ciudades y localidades próximas.
