Cillian Murphy smiling with a cigarette as J Robert Oppenheimer in Oppenheimer
The release date for the next film by one of the most well-known directors in modern Hollywood, Christopher Nolan, has just been revealed. Nolan has been a steady force in the film industry for a long time now, and his popularity and stardom have only increased in recent years, with his massively successful Dark Knight trilogy, and his most recent work, Oppenheimer, winning Best Picture at the 96th Academy Awards on top of making $975 million at the box office.
Tenet, Dunkirk, and Interstellar all won Academy Awards. However, Tenet and Interstellar won for Visual Effects, and Dunkirk won for Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and Film Editing, none of which were directly attributed to Nolan as the writer/director. Universal's relatively tepid year, at least in terms of major critical successes, paved the way for Oppenheimer to become the frontrunner in the major awards shows.
