Medway Council leader said they had ‘no choice’ but to cancel Christmas lights switch-on events this year
Council leader councillor Vince Maple said budget forecasting has found a potential overspend by the local authority of £75 million for the financial year. The council boss added that Medway Council is one of the “lowest funded unitary authorities in the country per head of population”, with its revenue support grant cut by 91% since 2010.
