Christine McGuinness has been open about her family's struggles in the past, and shared a heartbreaking moment in an autobiography which left her in tears
Christine McGuinness once broke down in tears during a shopping trip over struggles with her young children.
The 36-year-old has three children – Felicity and twins Leo and Penelope, all diagnosed with autism - admitted it took her a while to feel comfortable leaving her children at nursery. She revealed that she had to bring them home for lunch as they refused to eat at school, and one specific food item led to a distressing incident at a supermarket.
"Now when I think back, alarm bells should have been ringing. That's not normal. But for me, I was just doing anything I could to get my child to eat and I'd do it again tomorrow if I had to. " Christine gradually felt more at ease discussing the twins' speech issues and their struggle to recognise their own names.
She penned: "And before I knew it, we were sitting around a table with eight different adults from various child support sectors, preparing them to meet this paediatrician. Yet, no one mentioned, 'The reason we're doing this is because they're autistic'."
