That sounds alarming. But it should mean much more to some gas stove owners than others. Experts across the board seem to agree that if your gas stove is relatively new, and if your kitchen is properly ventilated, then you have far less to worry about.

In homes where gas stoves were used only for cooking , childhood asthma prevalence was 7.7 per cent when there was proper ventilation, and 10.4 per cent when there was no ventilation. That’s a 35-per-cent risk boost. If anything was going to make headlines, perhaps it should have been that — especially since 7.7 per cent isn’t at all a shocking figure.
