Former prime minister Jean Chrétien regaled attendees at the second night of the federal Liberal convention with tales of his time in office in the 1990s and early 2000s — including his opposition to the Iraq War — while rallying party members to take the fight to Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives.
Speaking at the Shaw Centre in downtown Ottawa, Chrétien said Canada remains a shining star in the world despite claims from the opposition that the country was divided and faltering. “No, no Mr. Poilievre, Canada is not broken. Canada is the land that makes the envy of the world,” he said.
