Warning: SPOILERS for Dave Season 3, Episode 9 - "Dream Girl"Chloe Bennet joined Dave season 3 as Robyn, the new girlfriend of Dave Burd AKA Lil Dicky. Their relationship has lifted the FXX comedy to new dramatic heights, culminating in the events of this week's episode.
It's really special to watch someone know exactly who they are, and have a lot of clarity creatively in the way they want to execute that vision and tell their story, which is ultimately what everyone in Hollywood is trying to do. And watching Dave execute that at such a high level and really accomplish it well is it's really special Just a person to watch that and be a part of that, but it's also special as a friend to just see him in his element.
I thought episode 9 might just be the best episode of the whole series. I was floored by Robyn's breakup with Dave. That was some of the best work I've ever seen you do. It reminded me of Marriage Story, it was so intense. I want to dive a bit into that. What was that breakup scene like? Was that word for word in the script? Or did you improv some of it? How did that work?
To me, that is probably the most heartbreaking thing. And to have to do that in a way, for women especially, to have to navigate that in a way where she's not the victim in it. Where there is a sadness, where we touch on that sadness, but also there's an empowerment there in drawing that boundary and knowing that she's not being treated the way she deserves. And she's not crazy. She's not being clingy. There's a real connection, they're both aware of it.
