CHL hires outside firm to begin searching for new full-time president to replace David Branch.
Branch, who has been CHL president since 1996, will remain as commissioner of the Ontario Hockey League.“The time has come for the CHL to have a full-time president who will focus on continuing to grow and expand our programs,” Branch said Tuesday in a release.
The CHL encompasses the OHL, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and Western Hockey League and serves as a development avenue for players to reach the NHL. There are 60 clubs within the CHL and the new president will report to the commissioners of the three member leagues.“Gilles Courteau, Ron Robison and I look forward to working with the new president and continuing to grow the game and the experience for our key stakeholders: our players,” Branch said.
