FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.—A federal judge allowed a Chinese woman arrested for trespassing at President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort to fire her attorneys and represent herself at trial.

But U.S. District Judge Roy Altman told Yujing Zhang he had serious misgivings. “In my opinion, a trained lawyer would defend you far better than you can defend yourself,” the judge said at a hearing Tuesday. “You are not familiar with the law. You are not familiar with court procedure.”
