Chinese hospitals are being overwhelmed with cases of influenza and human metapneumovirus ( HMPV ). Videos circulating online show patients in hospitals, visibly sick and wearing surgical masks. Symptoms of the virus include coughing, shortness of breath, congestion, and fever. While the virus has been around since 2001, there has been a recent surge in cases in China.
