Beijing hit back after foreign secretary Dominic Raab’s accusations of ‘gross’ human rights abuses against ethnic and religious minorities
China hit back on Monday at comments by Britain’s foreign secretary that accused Beijing of “gross” human rights abuses against ethnic and religious minorities in the northwest region of Xinjiang.
But Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin called the comments “nothing but rumours and slander”. But Wang said the forced-sterilisation reports were “complete nonsense”, and that the Uighur population had more than doubled in the past four decades.
