A senior woman suffered serious injuries when she was struck by an RCMP cruiser on March 30, 2018
A Chilliwack RCMP officer has been charged in connection with a pedestrian accident that sent a senior woman to hospital last year.
The woman, whose named has not been released, suffered serious injuries when she was struck by an RCMP cruiser on March 30, 2018 as she crossed the street near the 5800 block of Tyson Road in Chilliwack. The B.C. Prosecution Service announced Wednesday that a charge of driving without due car and attention has filed against Chilliwack RCMP Const. Yannick Leblanc.
The charge followed an investigation from Independent Investigations Office of B.C., a civilian body that investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death. “The charge was approved by an experienced Crown Counsel who is located in a different area of the province than the officer under investigation, and who has no prior or current connection with this officer,” the B.C. Prosecution Service said in a release.
