A case of child neglect has been opened against a Kranskop woman in KwaZulu-Natal after four of her children were found to be living on their own.
It is believed that the children, who are between the ages of 10 and 16 years, have been living on their own while the mother was alleged to be in Pietermaritzburg.Provincial MEC for Social Development, Mbali Shinga, says the children have been taken to a place of safety. “I was concerned about issues of security and upon assessment by our social workers the immediate intervention was that we remove these kids. The case is opened, it was opened by our social workers against the mother because we discovered that she is collecting a grant for her children so she cannot really neglect them.
