PHOENIX — Police say a woman and child have died after an apartment fire Wednesday afternoon in Phoenix.
Phoenix Fire Department officials say they were called to an apartment complex near 7th Avenue and Bell Road just before 1 p.m. for a quickly spreading fire that reached several stories.A woman was hospitalized in extremely critical condition with burn injuries, but officials said Friday she has since died.
A man was treated for lacerations after trying to make entry into a burning apartment. Two firefighters were also treated at the hospital for minor burns.The deceased woman has been identified as 37-year-old Ashley Sutter. The child has been identified as Sutter's son, 3-year-old Maximus Hodges.
