Chiefs to miss Dolly in Soweto derby against Pirates
Last week, it was revealed why the vice-captain had been in tears, as Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane said Dolly was going to be ruled out until the end of the season.
Amakhosi will be determined to land another psychological blow on their archrivals with a sixth straight win.In his first Soweto derby, Dolly scored two goals in the 2-1 win in November 2021. In so doing, he became the first Chiefs player since Knowledge Musona in 2010 to score twice in a Soweto derby league match.Pressure is more on Zwane to win the Soweto derby“We miss all our players who have been out injured.
“We started this season promisingly but, unfortunately, we suffered a lot of injuries to key players. We’ve had to chop and change the team at some points in the season. It’s been an unfortunate season for us. The injuries were just uncontrollable. Some of them were happening here at training. It’s been the story of our season, but we can’t dwell much on that.Happy Mashiane took Dolly’s place in Chiefs' last two matches – a 1-0 win over Chippa United last week and a 2-1 defeat to Swallows this week.
Zwane said: “We must move on and come up with new plans and solutions. Happy would want the opportunity to continue to play and Kgaogelo [Sekgota] as well, to bring back his confidence.”In times of uncertainty you need journalism you can trust.
