The Siya crew can reveal that Kaizer Chiefs are considering the appointment of a former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper coach as the club’s latest addition to the technical team. SLSiya
It came as a bit of a shock when Chiefs appointed Aubrey Mathiba as part of the goalkeeping department back in April following the exit of Lee Baxter.The Siya crew have reliably informed that Chiefs are considering veteran goalkeeper coach Alex Heredia to take charge of the club’s goalkeeping department, where he is likely to work alongside Mathibe and long-serving Rory Minnaar.
Siya sources have informed the crew that Heredia had been spotted around Naturena over the last few weeks and was even seen in club regalia. Strangely, Chiefs’ Wikipedia page lists Heredia as the club’s goalkeeper coach, although there has been no official announcement by the club.Heredia, who is one of the most qualified coaches in the country, has been working for both FIFA and CAF in recent times and recently undertook a number of classes, which included current Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune.
He has worked for the likes of Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, SuperSport United as well as with a majority of the South African national teams.
