'Chiefs Should Invest In Velebayi & 'Sell Him To Europe'
GQEBERHA, SOUTH AFRICA - JULY 02: Asanele Velebayi of Bafana Bafana and Siphephelo Newman Philiso of Eswatini during the 2024 COSAFA Cup match between South Africa and Eswatini at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on July 02, 2024 in Gqeberha, South Africa.
Spurs are looking for a fee between R8 million to R12.5 million to let the 21-year-old South African midfielder go.Former Chiefs defender Thabang Rooi believes his former club should increase their offer to secure Velebayi, stating that the player would add a different dimension to the squad. In an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, Rooi emphasized that despite the Glamour Boys already having other wingers, Velebayi brings something unique to the team.
"He is quick and skilful as well. He can control that right hand side of attack and can as well move to the left and cut inside. If you look at the other wingers like Mfundo or Sirino, they are not as fast as he is. So, I think he can fit in very well in the squad. And you know that we need competition as well to balance the team. It will be good to have him and he will fit in very well in the setup," Rooi concluded.
