Kaizer Chiefs' Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr has revealed that the club attempted to sign Cape Town City's Khanyisa Mayo and explains why the move didn't happen. Read more ▶️
Mayo has been on the wish list of many Amakhosi supporters for quite some time. The winger was heavily linked with a move to Naturena at the end of last season but nothing materialised.on Thursday night, Motaung confirmed that the Glamour Boys had reached out to Cape Town City owner John Comitis regarding the availability of Mayo.
"Again, I’m talking about players that are contracted to other teams, so I don’t want to overstep the respect I have for the leadership of those teams," Motaung said. "But when it comes down to someone like [Khanyisa] Mayo, great talent, but of course [it has to be a case of] willing buyer, willing seller," Motaung said.
"I think the last conversation that was had, Mr Comitis outright told us that he is not willing to sell Mayo right now [at the time] and that’s out there for public sumption.
