A Chicago police officer was involved in a shooting on 126th Street in West Pullman Wednesday evening, CPD said.
Chicago police said an officer was involved in a shooting in West Pullman Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators said the incident originally started because the suspect allegedly came out of his home several times with a gun and shot at neighbors, hitting one of them.Now, Chicago Police and the Civilian Office of Police Accountability conducting two separate investigations.A 52-year-old man allegedly fired his guns at neighbors multiple times, striking one of them before two Chicago police officers shot him.
"They engaged him and used a myriad of de-escalation tactics, including begging for the offender to drop the weapon," said Dep. Chief Sean Loughran with the Chicago Police Department."He then began walking from the scene and engaged other officers who also used de-escalation tactics. At that point, he points the weapon at on uninvolved third party citizen and menaces him, and officers were forced to fire," Dep. Chief Loughran said.
