Police officer shoots armed person on South Side, CPD says
Tactical officers were investigating in the 7200 block of South Artesian Avenue when shortly before 2 a.m. they encountered an armed person. A police officer then shot and struck the person, according to a news release.Officers then helped the person shot, who was transported to a hospital in fair condition. One officer was also transported to a hospital for observation in good condition, police said.
One weapon was found on the scene and another one in the area while officers investigated afterward, according to police.The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is investigating. According to police, the officer involved will be placed on routine administrative duties for 30 days.
