Chestermere sanctions, issues cease and desist letter to councillor yyc
The mayor highlighted those complaints — as well as further emails with the ministry and some with city employees and residents who reached out to Narayan regarding the municipal inspection — as examples of potential breaches in an hour-long overview of the city’s case against the three councillors.
Colvin alleged the documents showed evidence of multiple breaches of the code, including the three councillors directing city staff and misusing their position to harm the city. He also noted the code of conduct positions the mayor council’s official spokesperson unless otherwise directed by council. The mayor repeatedly affirmed that the items he outlined were “just allegations” and each would be investigated accordingly.
Some of the emails presented contained sensitive information the city did not fully redact before making the document public during the meeting, including the personal phone numbers of the three councillors and names of some staff members and residents. When asked by Coun. Dean, the mayor did not confirm whether the document had been vetted by the city’s lawyers before its presentation to the public.
