Available immediately for highly motivated Ph.Ds, the position focuses on the use of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells and gene therapy for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders at the Cherqui Lab, Dept of Pediatrics, University of California, San Deigo.
Gene therapy technologies employed in the project include lentivirus vectors, CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing, and prime editing. The candidate will use human and mouse HSPCs, murine models of genetic disorders and iPSC-derived cells. The project also includes the investigation of the mechanisms involved in the rescue of nervous tissues by HSPC-derived microglia-like cells.
