Cher has been flooded with messages of condolences after appearing to announce her mother’s death.
The Believe singer, who is typically active on social media, had been absent from Twitter for two days but returned in the early hours of Sunday morning to share the news of her mother Georgia Holt’s apparent death at the age of 96.Cher, 76, did not disclose any other details or a cause of death, but it comes after the pop icon revealed in September that Holt had been battling health issues.
The following day, Cher reassured fans, writing: ‘Home is the Best Medicine For Her…She’s Getting Better.After appearing to share news of Holt’s death, Cher was flooded with messages of support and tributes from fans. One fan, whose own mum recently died, commented: ‘Oh Cher, I am so sorry for your loss. You two were so much fun. Time doesn’t heal this wound, it helps reshape it into comforting memories that make the grief tolerable. Keep honoring the memories.’
Holt herself was a singer in her earlier years and began by singing on an Oklahoma City radio station when she was six, before joining bandleader Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys by age 10.
