Radio-Canada a appris que le gouvernement Trudeau a trouvé un terrain d’entente avec le gouvernement américain à propos des migrations irrégulières.
Il n’est pas encore clair si cette entente sera annoncée pendant la visite du président des États-Unis, Joe Biden, ou un peu plus tard. Les autorités doivent fignoler les détails opérationnels autour de l’annonce de la fermeture, car cela pourrait entraîner un bond des arrivées de migrants irréguliers.
Ça fait plusieurs mois qu'on travaille de près avec les Américains pour rétablir la situation au chemin Roxham et regarder l'Entente sur les tiers pays sûrs. On va continuer notre travail, puis on va peut-être avoir quelque chose à annoncer. Avant la période de questions à l'Assemblée nationale ce matin, le premier ministre du Québec, François Legault, a répété qu'il faut fermer le chemin Roxham.
