The lead fluctuated throughout the game, with seven lead changes and a 35-minute dry spell in the second half. In a thrilling finish, replacement fullback Cohen Jasper scored the winning try in the 81st minute, securing a win that keeps the Cheetahs in contention for a playoff spot with one round of pool matches remaining. Zebre dominated the final 35 minutes, leading 18-17.
Despite the Cheetahs' efforts near the tryline, flyhalf Ethan Wentzel opted for a risky chip kick. Jandre Nel, the replacement scrumhalf, remarkably recovered the kick inside the five-meter line, leading to Jasper's game-winning try.The Cheetahs led 17-11 at halftime thanks to tries from fullback Michael Annies and No 8 Jeandre Rudolph, converted by Wentzel, who also added a penalty. Zebre scored through Simone Gesi's try and penalties from flyhalf Giovanni Montemauri and scrumhalf Thomas Dominguez.
