House prices have climbed in recent years making it more and more difficult to find an affordable home. With the average house price in Greater Manchester now £257,437 according to Rightmove, this makes buying a property particularly tough for first-time buyers and low income households.
Here we look at the cheapest areas to buy a house in Greater Manchester where the average house price is less than £200,000.Bolton As one of the region's more affordable boroughs, there are several areas in Bolton where you are likely to find a cheap home.This is followed by Heaton, Blackrod, Kearsley and Little Lever where the average cost of a property ranges from £187,000 to £195,000.
The most affordable area to buy a home in Castleton, where properties typically sell for around £174,683.Salford There are just two areas in Salford that are considered affordable with house prices much lower than the average. Tameside Ashton-under-Lyne is the cheapest and only area in Tameside where property prices are below the average.
