Mitchell Tweel and 2023 Canada Games Host Society CEO Brian McFeely.CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The City of Charlottetown and the 2023 Canada Games Host Society have teamed up to install a new portable artificial outdoor rink system.
The portable artificial outdoor rink system, located in front of Founders Hall, officially opened to the public on Jan. 28. The rink is designed with a tubing grid that circulates cold glycol through tubes, allowing the ice to remain cold even on warm days. This system is portable, meaning the greenspace can be transformed back into a park in the summer months.The project cost around $600,000, with the Host Society purchasing the portable artificial outdoor rink system and the city contributing to site design, preparation and electrical infrastructure.
