'Our reserves are empty and we are doing the best with what we have'
The team behind a North Belfast-based mental health group say they have been 'absolutely floored' by requests' for help from local families struggling ahead of the new school term.
Earlier this year, MHM secured its first office space at the former Carnegie Library on the Oldpark Road, which is due to open later this summer. "So many people are struggling and basic items like shoes are inaccessible. People in our own communities, neighbours and yes even family and friends could be quietly struggling right now and it must take so much for people to ask for help."
"We were able to sort them out but sadly a lot of the phone calls are like that at the minute. Some schools in working class areas are expecting parents to fork out hundreds of pounds on these items in the middle of a cost of living crisis, which is a disgrace.
