The DWP's Health Transformation programme will see these benefits that require a functional health assessment rolled into a ‘single assessment’.
The DWP is set to change the way Personal Independence Payments claims are assessed as new providers are brought in to govern the process. The changes will be made starting this month and will affect PIP assessments as well as Work Capability Assessments for ESA and Universal Credit.
The DWP's Health Transformation programme will see these benefits that require a functional health assessment rolled into a ‘single assessment’ and will all be assessed in the same way and at the same time. Despite the introduction of these new providers the process will not change that drastically as the assessments must still follow the DWP's guidelines. For instance; it is still a requirement that face-to-face appointments must be held within a 90-minute public transport commute from the claimant's place of residence.
These assessments must also be held in accessible locations on the ground floor of the interview site and can only be held by doctors, physiotherapists, therapists, nurses or paramedics in the case of PIP claims.- For South East England, London and East Anglia: Ingeus UK Limited - For Scotland and North England: Maximus UK Services Limited
