CF Montreal acquires defender Aaron Herrera in trade with Real Salt Lake

Aaron Herrera’s arrival will help fill the void left by the departure of Canadian defender Alistair Johnston, who CF Montreal transferred to Scotland’s Celtic earlier this month

Defender Aaron Herrera was acquired by CF Montreal in trade with Real Salt Lake on Wednesday.

Real Salt Lake gets $350,000 in 2023 General Allocation Money, $150,000 in 2024 General Allocation Money, Montreal’s natural first round pick in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft and a 2023 international roster spot in return. “ can play a variety of positions, both as a central defender in a three-man backline, and on the flanks, on the right and on the left,” CF Montreal vice-president and chief sporting officer Olivier Renard said in a release.
