The new fingerprint reader and improved read/write technology makes this the best Samsung has ever made.
The great thing about portable SSD drives is that you can take them anywhere. Toss them in a bag and you don't have to worry about them getting jostled. They're also extremely small, usually no bigger than a quarter-deck of playing cards, which makes them extremely pocketable.
So how do you ensure that someone else isn't accessing your data if your drive gets stolen? Samsung has announced a solution at CES 2020 with the new T7 Touch. The attractive black or silver solid aluminium casing has a square"Motion LED" on the top of the unit that lets you know when the drive is in operation. More than that, the square it surrounds contains the first-ever built-in fingerprint scanner on a Samsung portable drive.
The T7 Touch is considerably faster than even previous Samsung SSD devices. It has a read speed of 1,050MB/s and a write speed of 1,000MB/s. That's just about twice as fast as the previous Samsung T5 and as much as 9.5 times faster than a standard external HDD. You'll be able to pick up a T7 Touch this month in 500GB, 1TB and 2TB sizes, starting at $129.
