A staffing shortage has some police officers feeling 'beat up.'
AUSTIN, Texas — Austin Police Association President Kenneth Casaday doesn’t shy away from the fact that officers tell him daily that they feel “beat up.”
The longtime member of the department expressed a wide range of concerns in the Capital City — from the negative public perception to the need for more help in the field. The Austin Police Department hopes its newest cadet class will provide relief in those areas. Austin Police Association President Kenneth Casaday says the department is losing between 15-20 officers a month.
“Ultimately, if more and more people exit that door, then our communities are less and less safe,” Standridge said.
