Police in Franklin County charged Destinee Griffin-Bailey, 31, with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of her 6-day-old son.
with involuntary manslaughter in connection with Xander’s death last year in Guilford Township near Chambersburg. A judge set her bail $150,000 monetary, which she could not post.
The charge alleges that she caused the death of her son while doing an unlawful act in a reckless or grossly negligent manner. The mother told police she used the “scramble” before bottle feeding the baby in her lap while she was seated cross legged, according to court records. She showed police how she awoke slumped over the baby, with the bottle still in his mouth.
Blood tests from the mother showed the presence of fentanyl, buprenorphine and norbuprenorphine in her system, police wrote in an affidavit filed against Griffin-Bailey. “The actions of the defendant prior to the feeding of the victim and the position in which she held the victim while feeding him contributed to the death of the victim once the effects of the illicit narcotics that were ingested by the defendant took hold,” police wrote in the affidavit.Note to readers: if you purchase something through one of our affiliate links we may earn a commission.
