The head of the family-owned, Baldwin Park-born business has released a new book this week about her grandparents' secret to fast-food success
Lynsi Snyder is the ultimate insider at In-N-Out Burger. But writing a history of the 75-year-old chain was a learning experience for her. Snyder is the owner and president of the fast food chain with nearly 400 stores in seven states, and the only descendant of its founders Harry and Esther Snyder. “There are honestly things about my grandparents that I learned in this process, and that was really neat.
1958: In-N-Out replaces bottled soft drinks with fountain drinks. 1961: The chain begins making Animal Style burgers for customers. 1963: The Double-Double first appears on the menu. In-N-Out hires its first in-house butcher. 1966: The first official employee handbook gets printed. Harry Snyder begins printing lap mats with maps to In-N-Out restaurants. Before that, his teams handled out butcher paper.
