CCTV released as man left with fractured cheekbone after assault on Manchester train
A man has been left with a fractured cheekbone after being assaulted by a stranger on a train heading for Manchester. British Transport Police says the 57-year-old also suffered bruising to his face on the service from Liverpool Lime Street to Victoria.
Detectives have today released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to following the attack, which took place on the 9.51pm service last Thursday, March 30. BTP says the attack took place before the train stopped at the Lea Green station, in St Helens, where the offender left. Anyone who recognises the man in the image or has information on the attack is urged to come forward. A spokesperson for BTP said: "Officers are releasing a CCTV image following an assault on a train between Liverpool Lime Street and Lea Green railway stations."On Thursday, March 30, on the 9.51pm service to Manchester Victoria, a 57-year-old man was assaulted by a stranger. The victim sustained bruising to his face and a fractured cheekbone.
"The offender left the train at Lea Green railway station. Officers believe the man in the CCTV may have information that could help their investigation. "Anyone with information or who knows the man is asked to contact BTP by calling 0800 40 50 40 or by texting 61016 with reference 2300036476. Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
