Dikeman is an artist, but part of the charm of the show is that her pictures seem totally normal, like everyday snapshots.“This is the first one and it was an accident,” Dikeman said of a colourful photo featuring her mom in the foreground, wearing a bright pink top and blue shorts. Her father is in the background to the right, doing an identical wave.

“I’m really glad I wasn’t too careful,” said Dikeman, 68. “Because I think if I’d tried harder I might have messed it up. They’re casual because they were taken casually.” “At some point as they got older, I knew one of these photos would be the last photo I would ever take,” she said. “You can see my dad started to fail — he’s got a cane, he’s leaning on my mom, she’s holding him there so he doesn’t fall over. But bless his heart, he was out there to say goodbye.”Article content“In some of those her face gets really sad,” she said. “But also it gave us something silly to do: ‘Smile for the camera!’ It helped to make it easier to leave.
