Carroll Fife is hitting her stride.
Of late, she’s pushed through a series of housing proposals intended to protect Oakland’s tenants, especially low-income ones. She’s unabashedly against anyone who treats housing as a commodity, rather than a human right, and is angling for far more than basic tenant protections. She wants a radically different housing plan for her district and her city, and she swears she doesn’t care if she gets kicked to the curb while trying to make her vision a reality for Oaklanders.

I did feel like a large percentage of the conversation was taken up with fallacious arguments of the sky falling around issues that just are overstated. I am concerned for landlords who may be at risk, truly at risk, because they've fallen through the cracks of this bureaucratic system and have not been able to get rent relief payments. We know those are being processed slower than we would like to see. I want to make sure that they are OK.
