Jamie Carragher has paid tribute to long-standing Liverpool academy coach Steve Heighway who retired from the role aged 75.
Heighway scored 76 goals in 475 appearances for the Reds, winning five League titles and two European Cups along the way.Advertisementlegend spent seven years in the role after having served as the club’s head of youth development for 18 years, helping to nurture talents such as Robbie Fowler, Steven Gerrard and Michael Owen.
Another alumni, former defender Carragher, took to social media to show his appreciation for Heighway who he still views as an influence on his life.“As a player who won Leagues & European cups.
