They 'don't always get around to it'

A residential care home has been given a rating of 'Requires Improvement' in its latest inspection by the Care Quality Commission .

Another major issue in terms of the problems with safety was down to risk assessments, as the report states the provider had not ensured the checks of water safety and quality. As a result, the risk of Legionnaires' disease, a potentially fatal form of pneumonia caused by the legionella bacteria that can develop in water systems, was increased.

The CQC is the independent regulator of health and social care in England, which carries out inspections to services under its remit, including care homes, dentists, GPs and hospitals. The 'Requires Improvement' rating was given to Church View Residential Home in its latest routine inspection, the only other rating which is deemed below this one is 'Inadequate'.

As mentioned in regards to fire safety, staff were not consistently receiving training in key areas or regular supervisions. In regards to supervisions, one staff member stated: "They're irregular really. Can't remember when I last had one."
