Speaking in La Baie, Saguenay, on Wednesday, Quebec Conservative leader Éric Duhaime lambasted Legault for having quashed GNL Quebec’s Énergie Saguenay project and thus potentially having forfeited billions of dollars in revenue with European countries trying to find alternatives to Russia’s fossil fuel.Sign up to receive the daily top stories from the National Post, a division of Postmedia Network Inc.

GNL Quebec promised to build a 780-kilometre natural gas pipeline from northern Ontario to the region north of Quebec City, and then build a transformation plant to liquefy it before loading it onto ships at the city’s port. The project was estimated to cost $14 billion when it was launched four years ago.
