Cape Town Museum Honors Those Who Suffered Under Apartheid SouthAfrica
The Langa Dompas Museum in Cape Town is steeped in the history of the township which celebrates its centenary in 2023. The structures once served as the offices of the"Bantu Affairs Administration", which was responsible for issuing the dreaded"pass" required by Africans to enter"white" areas under apartheid. Not having a proper pass was against the law.
Apartheid, the severe, institutionalized system of racial segregation in South Africa given the Afrikaans term by the National Party in 1948, was abolished before democratic elections in 1994.
