Cape Town makes the 'A List' alongside London and Paris for the cities making notably positive efforts to counter climate change:

The list was released at the start of European Union Green Week, grouping Cape Town with international cities including Barcelona, London, Paris and Hong Kong.

Cape Town is one of the two African cities to make the list, with the other being Yaoundé – the capital of Cameroon.CDP works to bring attention to how urgently climate change needs to be combatted, and focuses on the fact that cities are responsible for most of the world’s negative effect on the environment.

Hundreds of cities globally report to CPD, and are then graded a score of “A” to “D” based on how effectively they are managing, measuring and dealing with climate-related issues. Receiving an “A” score reflects on a city actively demonstrating strategies to curb climate change and track all their emissions. The science around climate change shows that we need to drastically lower our global emissions, and do it soon. As our city continues to put in the work, it is validating to know that the work is valued internationally.
