Most recently, on Thursday, 12 December, a soon-to-be mother arrived at the Mfuleni Fire Station just before 10am. Springing into action immediately, firefighters Eugene Meyering and Trevor Adams successfully assisted her in giving birth to a healthy baby girl and cut the umbilical cord within 45 minutes.
A few days earlier, on 4 December, firefighters based at Gugulethu Fire Station stepped in swiftly to deliver the first of a set of twins at around 5am. Marking the start of the season, an expectant mom arrived at Mfuleni Fire Station on 1 December with severe obstetric pains. Thereafter, firefighters Joswin Lameyer and Khuselo Blaai successfully delivered a healthy baby boy.to praise the firefighters for their efforts, City’s MMC for Safety and Security JP Smith said he was incredibly happy that all the births were free of complications and that the moms and their newborns are in good health.
