A struggling DStv Premiership club has been dealt a huge blow, following the sudden departure of the team’s number one goalkeeper.
As last season’s runners-up in the league Cape Town City are still searching for their first point after three rounds of fixtures played, coach Eric Tinkler and the team have been dealt a blow with the news of goalkeeper Hugo Marques’ sudden exit. According to close sources, the Angolan had a personal issue that needed his attention and required that he went back home to get it sorted and asked to be released from his contract.
In May, City handed Marques a one-year contract extension as his original one-year deal was coming to an end. The 36-year-old had an impressive maiden season with the Mother City side after keeping 15 clean sheets from the 28 matches he played and won the DStv Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season award.
