Cape Town City star Mpho Makola has been handed a lengthy ban by the PSL disciplinary committee after his altercation with assistant referee Cladwin Baloyi. 🚫 Read more here ➡️

Makola landed himself in hot water during the MTN 8 final in October last year when he involved himself in a physical altercation with assistant referee Cladwin Baloyi during Cape Town City's penalty shootout defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Cape Town City Football Club, as the employer and the club for which Mr. Makola played and was fixtures on the day, was fined an amount of R200 000, which is fully suspended on condition that the same club is not found guilty of similar misconduct for a period of 24 months, from the date of the ruling, which is 21 December 2021.

This effectively means that he will serve an effective two-month suspension which will run from 1 February 2022 and which will expire on 31 March 2022. This is in acknowledgement of the fact that during the January period, the league will not be in session due to the AFCON.
