Cape Town City have been fined R100 000, the Premier Soccer League confirmed on Monday afternoon.

Following an incident which happened during their DStv Premiership match against Maritzburg United in Cape Town in December where the Citizens played without the players’ registration cards, the Mother City outfit has been found guilty and fined by the league after the KwaZulu-Natal club lodged a protest prior to kinging the ball on that evening.Speaking on behalf of the league, the PSL’s prosecutor Advocate Zola Majavu confirmed the R100 000 fine handed down to the Mother City club.

“I hereby provide the update as promised last week in respect of the protest lodged by Maritzburg United Football Club against Cape Town City Football Club.
