When Alex Nissen-MacDonald's car went into the ditch driving along the Marion Bridge Highway Monday evening, she had to climb out the window to get out because snow kept the driver's side door from opening. CONTRIBUTEDSYDNEY — Alex Nissen-MacDonald's car bounced off a snow bank before landing in a ditch along Marion Bridge Highway on Monday.
The car Nissen-MacDonald was driving landed nose-first off the side and she said it had suffered some damage to the back and one side. "I know they say it's a kind of 'Cape Breton thing' but when it's you needing the help you don't expect it. I'm thinking, it's gross out and people want to get home for supper. But then people stop and get out and lend a hand. Then someone checks to see if you need a second hand. Or in this case a fifth and sixth hand."
"Maybe a Toyota," she mused."I want to say a million thank-yous, you saved me a lot of money on a tow truck that I absolutely don't have right now. I will definitely pay it forward." "A couple of weeks ago, it was pure black ice. It didn't snow but it was bad. People don't realize there is black ice until they hit it."
