Seven sea cadet corps from across Cape Breton gathered in Glace Bay to participate in seamanship skills training and activities. Kendall McCann photoGLACE BAY, N.S. — Seven sea cadet corps from across Cape Breton gathered in Glace Bay to participate in seamanship skills training and activities.The cadets were trained in basic ropework, rigging lifting devices, naval communications and navigation.
Cadet petty officer first class Devin Arsenault from Petit de Grat, N.S., said that the best part of the weekend was the opportunity to meet and create friendships with other cadets, participate in group activities and enjoy the magic show that was organized on Saturday evening. The cadet program, open to youth between the ages of 12 and 18, offers contemporary experiences that develop skills for a successful transition to adulthood, such as good citizenship, leadership and physical fitness.It has been our privilege to have the trust and support of our East Coast communities for the last 200 years.
