Centre 200 will move to a completely paperless ticket system at the beginning of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s 2024-25 season. JEREMY FRASER/CAPE BRETON POSTSYDNEY, N.S. — Centre 200 will be changing how tickets will be delivered to its patrons starting in late 2024.

“Currently, the first default is to print a ticket,” MacDonald said. “What will happen in 2024 is that won’t be your first option.” But by Centre 200 going completely paperless with its ticket-entry setup, what does that do for anyone who doesn’t own a mobile device but wants to see a hockey game or concert at the venue?“This is not to say if somebody who doesn’t have an email address, a smartphone couldn’t have their tickets printed off. That’s not what we’re saying,” MacDonald said. “They’ll still have the opportunity . It just won’t be the primary choice.

“Everything we use is on barcodes,” said MacDonald. “So once you transfer a ticket, that initial ticket becomes redundant and you can’t use it for entry. And you can’t take a photo or PDF of it either; neither will work. So the opportunity for fraud is lessened. “We did it in conjunction with COVID,” said Erin Esiyok-Prime, director of marketing, communications and Ticket Atlantic with Events East Group, which also operates the arena and the Halifax Convention Centre. “When we were able to start hosting events sometime in 2020, we moved to mobile digital ticketing at the time.”
